This battery is intended as a Christmas gift so as of this date it has not been used.
I thought I would have to replace the combo set but put it off, as my husband had other cordless tools to get by on and we couldn't afford a new set. When I saw the Amazon.com listing for the BAT 240, I didn't think the battery would be compatible or replace the old BAT 030 based on what Bosch had told me previously. Protect terminals from shorting, burns or fire may result. Is it powerful. I'd heard warnings about "compatible" aftermarket batteries causing fires and decided against buying any. Here is information from the package in case anyone needs to check compatibility:BAT 240 (p/n 2607335452); 24v 2.4 a-H Battery; Up to 50% longer life; Bosch BlueCore TM cooling rods absorb the heat inside the batteries; Battery cell (sic) last longer because they stay cooler; for Models: 13624, 52324, 3924, 1660K-24, 1645K-24, 11524, 3452. Years ago I purchased a Bosch 24 Volt "Platinum line" cordless combo set as a gift for my husband.
Rock on with Bosch. I hope this review is helpful and saves you time and money. WARNING: Charge only with BC003, BC004, BC006, BC015, BC016, BC130, BC230. The Bosch website [.]., for more information and a look at their new tools and any current promotions. I also found out it we could charge it on his existing charger. We were elated. Charges very quickly, too. Finally, I called Bosch and found out the BAT 240 does replace the BAT 030 and would work fine with the old Bosch Platinum line cordless tools. Even better than the previous ones when they were new.
When the time came to replace the batteries I was unable to find genuine Bosch batteries that were compatible, and a call to Bosch confirmed they stopped making them. Yes. When I visited the Bosch website, the description stated it would be compatible with all _current_ Bosch 24V tools, still leaving me wondering. I immediately ordered the BAT 240 from Amazon.com, and it an excellent battery.
It sure does last a long time and is quick to charge up. Great service and battery.
They have been found to perform better in low current applications such as laptops and cell phones. They do have the memory effect but not as much but they have been found to not endure as long as Ni-Cad in high current applications such as in 14.4 V power tools and up. In addition, you can reduce the memory effect by not leaving the battery on the charger after it is fully charged and exercising the battery by running it down to nothing about once a month. The BAT030 is a NI-Cad battery. This is good because the Ni-Mh have not been as good as promised.
Either Bosh dropped the ball in their info from manufacturer section or it is NOT a cool new type nickel metal hydride type with NO memory problems and toxicity problems like the old ni-cads or plain ole lead acid gell cells.should not have to go elsewhere to find more but will have to. This Battery May be great but there is NO information about what type of battery it is.
